Streamz supporting people back into employment

To date Streamsz's success rate is just shy of 70 per cent in terms of securing employment for their participants, which is why they are seeking to increase the number of organisations they work in partnership with.

Their training4employment programme runs for up to 13 weeks. They work with participants to create a timetable to ensure it meets their personal needs.

A typical weekly timetable is as follows:

  • One day for workshops (compulsory)
  • One to three days on work placement (optional)
  • One day reserved for participant to sign on at the Jobcentre (compulsory)

They are responsible for arranging work placements for participants. They work with a range of businesses from different areas of the employment sector.

They try to match participants' skills, experience, interests and needs with work placements.

The duration of the placement can be from four to ten weeks.

Every employer providing work placement is required to complete a health and safety questionnaire and a volunteer placement details form. This is to ensure the employer has the necessary insurance cover and policies in place for  participants to work in a safe environment.

Streamz will carry out visitations to observe the participants as they work and to meet with managers and supervisors to discuss the progression of the placement.

Streamz provides drop-in sessions for participants to offer additional support when needed.

Every week Streamz covers a different topic using various interactive exercises and activities. They aim to equip their participants with valuable skills and knowledge to be used when actively seeking employment.

Streamz's workshops cover the following topics:

  • CVs
  • CV adaption
  • cover letters
  • recruitment agencies
  • job search techniques
  • interviews

The participants must be:

  • aged 25 and over
  • in receipt of benefits (Jobseeker Allowance, Income Support Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance)
  • live in Lambeth or Southwark
  • either facing financial difficulties or are mothers

They are not limited to running workshops on their premises. They can run workshops on different sites to meet the needs of participants.

There are three methods regarding referring participants for their programme:
