To support residents with the cost-of-living crisis, the RMO has introduced a community laundrette in the community hub, 23 Prague Place, SW2.
We have a washing machine and tumble dryer available for use by residents, each day, except on a Weds, by booking a slot with the RMO office on 020 7926 0158 or email blenheimgardens@lambeth.gov.uk; One 2 hr slot is available per resident from 9:00am until 4:00pm.
We have developed the below conditions of use, please be aware of these before booking the facility with us.
- The machines are provided in good faith by the RMO,
- The RMO accepts no responsibility whatsoever for damage caused to garments and or to belongings that are lost,
- Standard washing detergent and conditioner is provided FREE OF CHARGE. If, however, you require a special detergent and or conditioner, please bring your own,
- Overfilling the machine: If you can’t fit your hand flat on top of your clothes, you’ve overfilled. Overfilled machines wont wash/tumble properly, leaving your clothes dirty and potentially causing the machine to become unbalanced during the spin cycle,
- Using too much detergent: More detergent doesn’t make clothes cleaner. It just leaves residue. If you’re adding your own, two tablespoons is plenty,
- Not checking pockets: Forgotten tissues shred into a thousand pieces, receipts make a papier-mâché mess, and coins or keys can damage the drum,
- Leaving clothes too long after the cycle finishes: Other residents might remove your clothes to free up the machine. Return within 10 minutes of your cycle ending but within your allocated slot,
- Over-drying: Fabrics shrink, colours fade, and we waste money on extra drying time. Start with less time and add more if needed,
- Not checking the lint filter: A clogged filter makes drying slower and less efficient. Pull it out, remove the lint, and replace it — takes 10 seconds,
- No items will be left in the machines overnight, any items left will be disposed of and without notice,
- The machines are subject to availability and times/days of operation may change,
- Users will be recharged for any damage caused to the machines.
- The facility is restricted to residents only.
- Any breakdown, damage, leakage, or safety concern should be reported promptly.
- Children should be supervised where required, and users must follow any posted safety rules.
- If you have a known or reported infestation such as cockroaches or bedbugs, use of these facilities, to reduce the spread, are not permitted under any circumstances
- Repeated misuse or breaches of the rules may result in restricted access.
