Buses are the backbone of our transport network – they are lifelines for our communities and are critically important to reducing car use, congestion, road danger and pollution. But some of our bus routes are now under threat because of the impact of the pandemic and government funding restrictions on Transport for London’s budget.
With no agreed long-term funding plan between TfL and the UK government, local routes face being cut or reduced which could have a really significant impact on parts of our borough and on the residents who rely on them.
Lambeth council is working with local residents and community groups to respond to the TfL consultation around the need to protect services that are relied upon by residents on low-incomes and who live in areas with poor connections.
