South West London Law Centers vision is to see a future where people who cannot afford a lawyer

Lambeth Council is carrying out a consultation to ask residents for their views on a new proposed Dog Control Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Lambeth.
The need for a Dog Control PSPO has arisen due to an increase in dog related anti-social behaviour issues in the borough, such as dog fouling, dogs making unwanted contact or acting aggressively, or being walked in banned areas, such as children’s play areas or formal ornamental gardens. These issues have a detrimental effect on the local community’s quality of life.
The proposed PSPO will be applicable borough wide, or for some proposals restricted to certain areas only, and will apply to publicly accessible land owned by Lambeth Council, including in parks, highways and communal housing land.

Blenheim Gardens RMO have received the below from Lambeth. They are consulting tenants and resident on creating a Low Traffic Neighborhood in the Brixton Hill area and are looking to implement changes. Please see the below details. We’d like to encourage you to have your say!
We’ve extended the consultation closing date to 3 February 2023, to give people more time to share their views on our proposals to introduce a new LTN in Brixton Hill.
We are asking for feedback on our proposals which would stop through traffic, improve air quality, and encourage more walking, cycling, wheeling and scooting. Our vision is to transform local streets, so they have more greenery, are more pleasant and are no longer dominated by cars and vans using them as shortcuts. We believe this can support the local economy by making businesses more accessible.
Following the consultation, we will review our designs before making a final decision on whether to proceed with a trial LTN in Spring/Summer 2023. During the trial, we will monitor the impact of the LTN and may make further changes to the design if needed, before deciding whether to make it permanent.
The changes proposed include:
• Traffic filters to prevent cut-through traffic. The filters may change vehicle movement to one way or allow vehicles to drive up to but not through the filter from either side. A traffic filter is marked by planters, bollards and signs.
• New trees and plants which will reduce flooding risk and give shade during extreme heat
• Cycle parking
• Support for more sustainable forms of freight, such as e-cargo bikes.
Over the last year, we have worked with local people and analysed data to inform our designs. We want your feedback on our ideas to make the right improvements, in the right places.

The map below shows the LTN layout. Through traffic will be prevented from cutting across the area, but vehicles visiting addresses within the LTN will be able to access them from Acre Lane, the A23, South Circular or Kings Avenue, depending on their destination.

From October 2022 energy bills will have almost tripled in just one year, at a time when Londoners are already being affected by the growing cost of living crisis. The Mayor is acting now to support those impacted by focussing on immediate actions of making homes greener and warmer, reducing energy use and, therefore, lowering bills and cutting carbon. These actions will particularly help the most vulnerable Londoners who are disproportionately affected by the rising cost of living.
The Mayor of London’s Warmer Homes programme provides free heating, insulation and ventilation improvements for low-income Londoners who own their own homes or rent privately.
Grants of between £5,000 and £25,000 are available to eligible low income homeowners and private tenants, with funding amounts depending on your existing energy efficiency rating, your tenure and your current fuel type (i.e. gas, electricity, oil or LPG).
Applicants need to provide information showing they are (or their tenant is) eligible and details about the property. If the application is successful, a survey will be needed to work out which improvements are most suitable.

Blenheim Gardens RMO have teamed with ‘Get Rid of and Donate’ to provide a free donation service from our Community Hub, situated at 23 Prague Place, SW2 5ED.

The service will be working with the community to help people and families access free donations of essential living items, to encourage recycling and reduce landfill waste.
The service will also be offering good condition as well as new items – FREE OF CHARGE
The service will operate on an initial trial basis and we are seeking volunteers to support the project weekly and we are also seeking donations to the project. If you can volunteer some time and or wish to donate to the scheme, please get in touch.
We are seeking donations of toys, clothes, books, shoes, household items plus more!
The service will operate in conjunction with our foodbank service each Wednesday, commencing on Wednesday 30th November 2022

Dear Residents,
I hope you are safe and well.
You will be aware that there was a fire on the Estate on Sunday, 2nd October in Ramilles Close.
Sadly, there were injuries sustained to the occupants. The fire also caused extensive damage to the property as well as some damage to the neighbouring properties.
The RMO is supporting all families affected by the fire and is in regular communications with them.
The incident was subject to investigation by the police and fire service and so the RMO has been unable to make comment until the investigations were concluded.
We are now informed that the investigations are concluded.
First, we would like take this opportunity to thank residents who supported the emergency services and the RMO employee’s during the incident and for their ongoing support to each other at this difficult time.
Your efforts are appreciated.
We appreciate that this situation was very distressing for our community and we take this opportunity to reassure residents that the fire was a result of an accident as oppose to any defect associated with the property.
The incident however, does act as a stark reminder to ensure the routine checking of fire safety devices in your property; such devices include fire alarms, heat detectors and/or C0 devices.
Although these devices are checked in our directly managed properties as part of the annual gas service procedure, you are reminded to check these devices at least weekly to ensure the device remains in date and that a device is not bleeping.
If a device is bleeping is maybe because it requires a new V9 battery or the device is faulty. Council tenants are advised to contact the RMO should your safety device starts to bleep or if it becomes out of date.
For properties that are not managed but the RMO, you are advised to ensure you have fire safety devices fitted, in the correct locations and, that these are checked routinely. If you are a homeowner or a tenant of a homeowner and do not have a fire detection device fitted, please contact us and a mobile device will be provided, free of charge.
